  1. RT T1: Making lifestyle/healthy changes is hard. What tactics worked for you? How did you stay motivated?
  2. T1 Staying motivated is not easy. It's said: “FIRST we make our habits, THEN our habits make us.”
  3. Say it out loud, so friends can help hold you to it! RT : T1: What lifestyle/healthy changes tactics worked for you?
  4. T1 Lifestyle changes for me was focused on practicing behaviors for patients.Practice what I preach.
  5. T1 Gradual permanent changes work for me, eliminate bad habits with no intention of "going back."
  6. A1: depends on the type of change. For some, “tiny habits” & moderation. For others, hard rules & big changes
  7. T1 use a journal, keep a routine, pat self on back! Hmm need to do that again:)
  8. T1 Different types of psychotherapies can temporarily modify behavior, challenging is sustained behavior change.
  9. RT : T1: Making lifestyle/healthy changes is hard. What tactics worked for you? How did you stay motivated?
  10. T1: Set goals, use a support network, measure results, celebrate wins, don't be hard on yourself with setbacks, learn from them
  11. @hcldrT1 I stay motivated by practicing what I preach by teaching/joining others, especially alternative therapies.

New Nurse Born Product Entrepreneur Shares her Story, Sarah Brennan Mott @Nurseborn via @BethBoynton #Nurseup

New Nurse Born Product Entrepreneur Shares her Story:"Nurse BornProducts,(nurseborn.com) specializes in products designed by nurses. Inspiration for Nurse Born came about while I was in the process of developing the Lotus Stethoscope Holder.  Nurses are incredibly resourceful, creative and inventive people and I wanted to provide them with a platform in which they could sell their products. Nurse Born went live this past September 2013 and we are adding new products all the time.

My journey into entrepreneurship was not an easy one – Here is my story:"

Patient Engagement: are patients able to be active participants in care? Martine Ehrenclou, @Med_Writer #Nurseup

Patient Engagement: are patients able to be active participants in care? Martine Ehrenclou, @Med_Writer #Nurseup:"Taking charge of your healthcare means taking charge of yourself as a patient and meeting the medical provider half way.  Studies show that if patients are actively involved in care and partner with providers, that they experience better health outcomes and lower costs. See Health Affairs policy brief here.
But for patients to be active participants in care they must be willing to acquire knowledge about their diagnoses and treatment plans and learn how to navigate our complex healthcare system. That is no simple task for any patient, as it is a steep learning curve. It requires motivation and the ability to do basic research, to keep track of symptoms and share those symptoms with providers, to understand basic medical information, to ask questions and partner with medical providers in shared decision-making, and to take ownership of medical information."
