At one point in our society, taking care of our elders in the home was the norm. No one questioned it. Everyone pitched in. Aunts, uncles, cousins, neighbors, strangers everyone was there to land a helping hand.
Now, with the "progress" in society, our elders have become disposable and a burden. There are government supported institution where we are encouraged and rewarded to bring our elders to die.
If we want our loved ones to stay home, there are repercussions. We are punished. Caregivers have minimal financial, physical and emotional help to be home and take care of their loved ones.
In our society, a nursing home can be paid two, three or four thousand dollars a month through governmental programs. But if we talk about bringing our loved ones home the first question is, "How are we gong to be able to financially afford care at home?" Is it just me or there is something really wrong with this picture?
