What specific qualities and traits do you feel make nurses especially qualified to operate a business? Qualities and traits that make Nurses qualified to operate their own business include strong communication skills, their attention to detail, ability to multitask, being flexible and adaptable under pressure (CODE BLUE), and being empathic and compassionate.

What exactly is a nurse entrepreneur in your own words? Nurse entrepreneurs are the ones who start and operate their own business venture in the healthcare industry.

Do you currently practice as a nurse? If yes, in what type of setting? Yes, Private Practice.

Your most pressing concerns with the profession and healthcare: The most pressing concern is the increased demand on health care providers in an environment when reimbursement is shrinking.

How do you feel Babyboomers entering the healthcare system, and nurses (Babyboomers themselves) retiring in droves, will affect patient care? This is a complex issue with both positive and negative aspects. Baby boomers will lead to an increased demand on the healthcare system which can in turn lead to longer wait times, increased workload for healthcare providers, and gaps in care for select patient populations.

However as more Baby Boomer nurses retire it will create opportunity for new nurses to step up into leadership opportunities.

To address the negative aspect, healthcare organizations should invest in new technologies and strategies to deliver health care more efficiently and also provide incentives to retain experienced nurses while attracting new ones to the profession.

Other areas of interest and expertise: Chris is into real estate, love to travel.
