Nurseup NNBA2013:"Hey everyone, I'm looking into a masters program for my NursePractitioner, have you checked out any or are you taking online courses now? Would appreciate your feedback. The ones I'm looking at are talking about $326 per credit (12 total) for a BSN and $456 per credit for an MSN/NP degree (42 credits for a Family Nurse Practitioner.)
We talking big bucks, but to do it all online at my convenience, think it will be well worth it. Am especially excited about the AffordableCareAct expanding the roles/responsibilities of NPs, PAs, etc."

Saying Goodbye Is Never Easy, Michelle Podlesni, RN, @Mpodlesni:"Can a child ever have enough stuffed animals? Everyone, including us bought our daughter endearing stuffed toys that were soft and cuddly. Of course there were those that the baby has to have next to them so they can fall asleep. I remember one time while working in the hospital that a family drove over an hour to visit their father that happened to be one of my patients. I received the panicked phone call around 10:00PM, “Could you please check my father’s bed because our daughter left Ellie with Papa, Ellie is our daughter’s stuffed elephant?” Turns out when they left Papa’s room to get a snack, their daughter had put Ellie under the covers so Papa wouldn’t get lonely until they returned, but then she had forgotten about it."

Transitions from hospitals to the outpatient setting can be dangerous for many older adults. As patients are still recovering when they are discharged from the hospital, they might not understand or remember instructions about caring for themselves at home. Often, older patients don’t see their primary care doctors for follow up care and don’t take their medications properly.

"The first time I took the nursing exams I relied on what my nursing program taught me many years ago and that worked out well. Back in 2008, I wanted to challenge myself since I had been out of the hospital setting for many years but wanted to see if I could pass the boards again. I used the Princeton Review Cracking the NCLEX-RN book to brush up. Keep this in mind, the Nursing Exam questions use two foundational constructs for it's questions, the Nursing Process and Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs. If you remember that, it will help you in selecting the right answers. I highly recommend a review guide and good luck to all student nurses preparing to take their exams!"
