Elizabeth Scala, MSN/MBA, RN @CoachScala: Your most pressing concerns with the profession and healthcare. #nurseup

Elizabeth Scala, MSN/MBA, RN: Your most pressing concerns with the profession and healthcare: "Nurses need to start putting themselves first. The only way any shifts will come within our profession and the healthcare system overall is when nursing is a healthier role-model. Nurses must love, value, and respect themselves. Once they really, truly do that-they will allow themselves to take the time it takes to be well. I hear nurses saying "I don't have time for my health. I don't have time for me…" Well, yes. When we put everyone else above us- patients, clients, families, friends, neighbors, communities,
etc. - yes we don't have time for ourselves. But when we love ourselves more we find and make time for us. Then and only then will we welcome health and well-being into our busy lives. When we are healthy- our patients can enjoy healthier lives. Healthier patients- healthier nation. It is all very related, but we've got to start putting our own health and well-being needs first!"
