Do Coaches Need Professional liability Insurance? OnlineTherapyInstitute.com #Nurseup #NNBA2014 #Coaching #SmallBusiness #BusinessBasics

Do Coaches Need Professional liability Insurance? OnlineTherapyInstitute.com:"Coaching is not a regulated profession in most parts of the world so many coaches assume they do not need professional liability insurance but that is not necessarily true. For Therapist-Coaches, the question is a bit easier to answer and the answer is generally, “Yes.” If you are a Therapist-Coach and you continue to practice in the mental health field, you can usually add coaching to your existing professional liability insurance that you carry for your mental health services."

Keeping up with Technology, Michelle Podlesni, RN @MPodlesni, #nurseup #entrepreneurs

Keeping up with Technology, Michelle Podlesni, RN @MPodlesni, #nurseup #entrepreneurs:"Starting your own business can be overwhelming.  Once you commit to go down that road it is easy to get lost in the world of the latest and greatest technologies and the the endless options available for social networking.  I mean if you only knew how to harness that power you could reach the whole world with your great business — right?  In addition to learning all the software apps you’ve chosen, now you have to keep track of things, your calendar and to do lists as well as remembering all your account names and passwords.  So many things to think about and so many bases to cover.  Just make sure you don’t forget Home base."

Lori 'Minky' Radcliffe, RN, BS, CFNC, CFPC: What Attracted You To The Field of Nursing? #nurseup #nursing #nurses

Lori 'Minky' Radcliffe, RN, BS, CFNC, CFPC: What Attracted You To The Field of Nursing? My Mother. She was a retired RN

Lori 'Minky' Radcliffe, RN, BS, CFNC, CFPC, Founder of Certified Fitness Nurse™ Academy, @loriminkyrad:"At CertifiedFitnessNurseCoach.com we are not personal trainers who happen to be nurses. We show nurses how to stay in the health care industry and promote exercise within a 'not-so-healthy' pre-diabetic population;and NOT try to be a nurse in the fitness 'percieved healthy' industry. Just as waist reduction is 20% exercise and 80% diet; Certified Fitness Nurse™ Coaches are 20% fitness and 80% nursing in our practice. We teach a physical-environmental-financial-social-emotional model... like a nursing assessment.

We offer a 23-hour certification course for nurses who are fitness enthusiasts, who want to help pre-diabetics, with a specifically designed program for them, that will improve their health and reduce their waists in a sustainable manner. This is done through a 12-week group coaching course via the computer, video and telephone. We also teach you how to get started with only a few clients working part-time, from home and making full time money in a scalable business model. The physician and other health care professionals are actually where we get our clients and we utilize a fitness nursing assessment to determine the right minimum effective dose (M.E.D.) of diet, exercise and supplementation, the right client and the right time, which are the 3 Rights of a Certified Fitness Nurse™ Coach."

The Benefits of Crafting…, Michelle Podlesni, RN, @Mpodlesni - #nurseup #crafting #smallbusiness

The Benefits of Crafting…, Michelle Podlesni, RN, @Mpodlesni:"This past week’s Parade Magazine had an article on the benefits of crafting and how it is making a comeback in this country.  More than half of U.S. households take part in at least one crafting activity such as canning, scrapbooking, and sewing.  The article said that some reasons for this rise in making homemade goods relates to people trying to slow down the pace of modern life, people desiring to learn skills passed down from their grandparents and the sense of accomplishment and the pleasure of creating things.  The article spoke of a gentleman that after an extended illness found that he had difficulty concentrating.  His therapist recommended a meditative hobby such as knitting.  He found that knitting calmed his hyperactive mind and people would ask him where he got his hat and scarves.  He started selling them and it became so lucrative that he quit his job and now enjoys his craft full time."

Qualities & traits that make #nurses qualified to operate a business? @patbemis @maureenSRN @nursekeith @NurseMentorNanc:"Keith Carlson Independent thinking is key, as Patricia Bemis said. Also the willingness to really focus on the business aspect, not to mention recruiting others to the team as necessary (web designers, accountants--anyone who may be able to help). The entrepreneur also needs to be detail-oriented, organized and creative. Risk aversion is certainly a trait that will get in your way!"
